“THE NARROW GATE”
AND YOU SHALL BE MY DISCIPLES – Lesson #19
Choose the Narrow Way

14 “For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.” (Matthew 7:13–14).
WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
Training, precision, discipline, hard work, diligence, resolve, dedication, faithfulness, loyalty, clarity of purpose. As if it were a coded message for a secret mission, the wording is precise, terse and clear: “Enter through the narrow gate”. All of the commands and disciplines listed in this study which are a Disciple of Jesus, have two things in common:
1. They are hard, if not impossible, for the natural mind.
2. The only way is for a Disciple of Jesus is by God’s Grace through our faith in Jesus. Jesus is the way, the Truth and the Life. There is no other way except by Him. “Truly I tell you, anyone who doesn’t enter the sheep pen by the gate but climbs in some other way is a thief and a robber. 2 The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 The gatekeeper opens it for him, and the sheep hear his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he has brought all his own outside, he goes ahead of them. The sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 They will never follow a stranger; instead they will run away from him, because they don’t know the voice of strangers.” 6 Jesus gave them this figure of speech, but they did not understand what he was telling them.
“7 Jesus said again, “Truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. 8 All who came before me[a] are thieves and robbers, but the sheep didn’t listen to them. 9 I am the gate. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will come in and go out and find pasture.” John 10:1-9, CSB
JESUS IS CLEAR, HE IS THE ONLY WAY
Now it is your turn:
HOW MUST YOU DO IT? ____________________________________
HOW YOU MUST TEACH IT? ________________________________
NOTE: This teaching by Jesus is critical for us to know and to do especially in the day and this age. His Return is near, and the ONLY way we will successfully “endure to the end” is by being His Disciple.
